How big battery do I need for a PV system?

power demand is 8kw & the batteries should last for 3 days with depth of discharge of 50%.the appliancies will work at 240V

Which is why solar is still impratical for stand-alone power. Off-grid, you should reexamine your equipment requirements. Typically people look at 12V RV type appliances and spend a lot of time reviewing what they can get by with, rather than what they want.

If you are going to be connected to utility power, consider net metering (assuming your utility offers it, most states require it now). When solar is available, it reduces your consumption from the ‘grid’ and if enough is available, will even run your meter backwards, building up a credit you can use when there isn’t enough output from your array to meet your requirements.

This lets you meet at least some of your use with solar without requiring the cost of purchasing and maintaining the batteries. And the hazardous aspects of having large quantities of acid around.
