photovoltaic expensive

Is there a cocktail mix you can put into a 2 liter bottle to get a photovoltaic reaction?
I was wondering if it HAS to be those expensive plates(cells)? Is there anyway people can get the reaction from common household over-the-counter chemicals?
I’m not aware of anything, but that doesn’t prove it’s impossible.
Wouldn’t it be great, having a clear plastic bottle that you put in the sun to regenerate the electrolyte, then can take indoors later to use as a battery? Maybe you could invent it!
