photovoltaic roof shingles

why are photovoltaic shingles for a roof better then roofs made out of tar and other popular roofs?
What makes them greener and more environmentally friendly?
They’re not. Photovoltaic shingles are cosmetic enhancements only, (so you don’t have to see the panels), and exponentially more expensive than phtovoltaic panels. They also follow the contour of the roof and cannot be adjusted to the correct angle for maximum sun exposure. Conventional panels on a good quality roof are the less expensive option, and will also prolong the life of the asphalt roof under it.
