sizing your pv system
What is the difference between power (kW) and energy (kWh)? Why is this important when sizing a PV system? ?
kw is a measurement of power (1000 watts)
kw/h is the measurement of energy used (1000 watts and hour or the equivalent of having ten 100 watt bulbs on one hour)
When sizing a pv system you should do your best to cut back wasted energy and find out around how much energy you average a day so that you can get the proper size pv system. If you overestimate your usage you will buy too much system and cost will go up unnecessarily, if you underestimate your pv system will not produce enough energy.
Basically each solar panel is rated to produce x amount of energy and if you know you will use 18kw a day and you average 5 hours of sunlight then you can do the math and figure out how many solar panels and batteries (if used) you will need for your pv system.
