solar cell problem?

I have a 6V 50mAH solar cell that I brought from radio shack
I tried using it with a small DC motor that takes two AA 1.5 V
to make it works then I try to use my solar cell to power it but nothing happen so does my solar cell takes some time to generate enough energy in sunlight to make it works or maybe I have the wires crossed if that make a different in the direction the current flow.

Solar cells are typically not meant to directly drive something. They are meant to charge a battery over an extended period of time, and it is the battery that “drives something”.
Don’t be fooled by the way they specify solar cells:
6 Volt is in maximum sunshine with a minimum current, while
50mA is the maximum possible current, and if you draw that current, you will find the cell’s voltage having dropped far below 6 Volt.
So the right way to make this work is that your replace the 2 AA batteries with rechargeable ones, and connect the solar cell to the +/- 3 V of the batteries. Watch out for correct polarity !
