I’m personally interested in how recycling operates. I try to protect the environment, to preserve it and leave it clean and undamaged for the next generation who risk not being able to leave their homes due to high city pollution. Yet now, in my native city (Boston) the smog has increased to such a disproportionate level that my family and I had to move, because the air was harmful to the health of my 4 year old son.

This isn’t just a problem of big American cities, but it interests the rest of the world. Anyone who went to Pechino to watch the Olympic games can confirm it, because Pechino was overwhelmed day and night by strong pollution. The principal problem is that this smog is not set to decrease, but instead the experts predict that it will increase by over 30% over the coming years: this will bring about pollution all over the world and will cause global warming.

To fix this problem, many solutions have been developed, but too few people use them. One of the most efficient remedies is the use of solar panels that use the energy received from the sun and make it available for ordinary use. This way, we limit the use of electrical energy produced by hydroelectric central stations (which are one of the principal causes of pollution as it kills maritime flora and fauna when it produces electrical energy).

Why do these hydroelectric central stations pollute?

The water in these stations is brought into selected rooms where there is a big rotor that turns at a very high speed and produces energy. That energy is appropriated and made available. Then, the water is brought out of the central and poured into the rivers. The problem is that this water, beyond having a higher temperature than normal water, is polluted and, once it arrives in the rivers and the sea, causes the death of flora and fauna present there.

In light of this situation, many scientists tried to search for a remedy, by looking into the production of electrical energy through alternative sources, different from the hydroelectric central method. One of the most efficient sources of green energy are solar panels. This is why utilizing solar panels is useful to the natural environment.

I call upon every single person to utilize solar panels for the production of energy; doing this, we will avoid utilizing the energy produced by central hydroelectric stations. The natural consequence is that our world will be cleaner and healthier, and so our sons and daughters will have a much cleaner future.
